H.U.B. Vol. 2: Blowback Reviews
*Review of H.U.B. Volume 2 by writer S.A. Payne
Vol. 2 is the sho nuff clincher. Next thing you know you're being taken for a hellish ride almost immediately with the formation of an unholy alliance. From there the twists and turns just keep on coming. The battle has officially begun. Honestly, as I sit here writing and reviewing my notes it's hard to resist spilling my guts about the entire story. But that wouldn't be fair to you. I suggest you read it for yourself. It is truly like nothing I've ever experienced before and it's certainly not what I was expecting... When does the movie come out??
*4.5 out of 5 Stars for H.U.B. Volume 2: Blowback by Mark Horrobin
Volume 2 starts off where Volume 1 ended, more horrifying attacks by these beastly creatures known as Vampires and more tension than you can ever imagine between the two nations (Humans & Vampires). Along with new characters that are sure to have a say in what happens in this disfunctional world where 'Peace' is not to be found anywhere in their dictionary. Its easy to get drawn into each event that happens in H.U.B. and hopefully Volume 3 will delve even deeper into the problems. A great read and looking forward to the next volume...
*New review for H.U.B. Volume 2: Blowback by Paul Metcalf from pissedoffgeek.com
Now that I’ve read H.U.B Volume 2: Blowback I went back to my original review of the first H.U.B novel and was thought about if this book did what I hoped it would and fulfilled the potential of the story it would be telling.
Blowback is obviously the continuation of the H.U.B story. The Vampires are now a part of society and are having to fit in with the humans, this creates animosity on both sides which is what this story is all about. We get to see the view from both sides, the humans who hold contempt against the vampires, even down to the level of committing violence against them. Even though these attacks they make are often foolhardy and have little effect on creatures that are superhuman it still shows the evilness that man is capable of, it’s not just the vampires who are the monsters. On the other side we have the vampires who with their superior strength and arrogance believe they are above the humans and should not be trying to live within this society which to them is really just cattle.
This atmosphere of mistrust and hatred between both sides of the new society is the boiling point of this novel, you can feel things heating up to a level that everything could just explode at any second and this is the point. As the second book in this series, this book is about the move towards war. Players on both side of the game want to make something happen so they have an excuse to exact retaliation on the other side, just as in real life all that is needed is one event to push the balance of society into all-out war.
This was something I liked about the novel. At various points’ it is discussed that all that is needed is another September 11th type event to start a war, and this is what you could feel building up. The Vampires have a need to rule the world, to feed off the humans because in the end that is just what they are. The Vampires are the predators of the society and in a way cannot fight against what they are, even if some want to the society to survive as it is and they can live in peace. For humans it’s a lot more about the need for revenge. Characters who have lost their loved ones to (they believe) the vampires have a lust to start the war, to fight back against a society they don’t want. The question has to be would the humans stand a chance? It’s an interesting question that will make you want to read on to the next book when it’s released.
Another thing I enjoyed was that Mikey’s story was continued in the 2nd novel. As I said in my second review I was hoping his story would be continued and it is. Michael as he is known as now (well he’s a vampire, so of course he’s going to have matured from the childish human ways) is now learning how to be a vampire and how to use his powers. It’s interesting to be able to experience this with him and it also looks like his story will be a pivotal part of the continuing books, something I know I’m going to enjoy reading.
For all the criticism I gave of the first book feeling like an introduction to a bigger story, as the middle part of the story Blowback really pulls you into the Vampire vs Human war that is building up. This is not just a story about the Vampires trying to take over and the humans having to fight to survive, this is a well thought out story where various strategies are being formed from both sides of the battlefield of society and actions are being put into motion to provide a reason for the war that is to come. It could have been so easy to just push the world into war in the second book but I did enjoy how the author has not gone that route but has created a well thought out reason WHY things are going to happen in the future. If you’ve not read H.U.B yet, get it read and then get Blowback. Prepare for the war that is to come.
*5 out of 5 Star review of H.U.B. Volume 2: Blowback by Tiffanie Minnis
Benjamin Jones is back again with HUB Volume 2: Blowback. This sequel is filled with unexpected twists and new characters that defnitely heightens the plot and storyline. I thought Volume 1 was an introduction to a new spin off for vampire tales but Volume 2 has proved my assumption to be correct. I can see The HUB Series becoming a real T.V. series in the near future, putting True Blood and all the other Vampire shows on the back burner. Benjamin continues to deliver fresh words, with a fresh story that breathes fresh air on every page. I would recommend HUB to anyone, vampire fans or not, because not only is he a great story teller but he has a gifted vision that can be easily deciphered on every page. *two thumbs up*

HUB Vol 2: Blowback
Now Benjamin Jones is about to release HUB Vol. 2: Blowback and he asked if I wanted to read it. Of course I said yes! Do I look like an idiot? Don't answer that.
Take everything I said about HUB Vol 1 and magnifying it! Jones has ratcheted things up with some new characters and tensions like you wouldn't believe!
I'm not going to say much more because I am truly afraid that I will spoil things for the readers due to my excitement but let me tell you this:
IF YOU LIKE VAMPIRES (and I don't mean the sissy type) YOU NEED TO START WITH HUB VOL 1 AND READ THE WHOLE SERIES TO DATE! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
